New to Topselect? – Employee
Welcome to Topselect. Topselect is a payroll agency. This means that the employee will be employed by Topselect, but performs their activities at Utrecht University.
What does this mean for you?
Employment contract
Because Topselect is formally your employer you will conclude an employment contract with them. As soon as the faculty or service where you will work has registered you with Topselect, you will be requested to send additional information. A link will be sent to you for this. A week before the start of your activities at the latest, you will receive the employment contract via e-mail, which you sign digitally after approval. From that time onwards, you will be employed by Topselect and you can commence your activities.
Please note: for the drawing up of your employment contract, it is important you send Topselect your details as soon as possible. Without a signed employment contract, you will not be able to start work and Topselect cannot pay your salary.
Account
Topselect works with the Topselect Information System (TIS), where you will find information that is useful when you work via Topselect, including frequently asked questions (FAQs), our employment terms, and news about adjustments to the service or new arrangements. You can also declare your hours here and view any new vacancies. New functionalities will be added in the future.

Declaration of hours and salary payment
After you have created an account you can declare the hours you have worked every week. Select the option ‘hours declaration’. (this only applies to on-call employees; employees with a monthly wage contract will be paid automatically). Once the hours entered have been approved by your line manager, they will be processed and paid by Topselect. You can follow the status of your declaration in your account. You will find a detailed manual under ‘hours declaration manual’ in your account.
